The second pillar of our charism, “Adoration”, expresses our love and devotion for the Sacred Heart of Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Our life of prayer at the Order centers around the Eucharist. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass – when we unite intimately with our Lord in Holy Communion and offer this most perfect oblation of Christ to the Father for souls – is the high point of our day. The remaining hours of our prayer schedule are spent before the Eucharist exposed in a monstrance.
In Adoration, we also make reparation for those who ignore or offend His loving Heart in the Eucharist. We offer His Heart to the Father in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. It is our hope and longing to one day have Perpetual Adoration here at the Order, so that every hour of the day our Lord may be adored, and have the joy of pouring His love into attentive hearts, grateful to receive it.
As is stated in our Constitution: “Let us keep watch with Him every hour of every day, and make reparation for those who ignore His most generous presence.”
Also, in coming into the Lord’s Presence in Adoration we are able to take refuge in His Most Sacred Heart. We are able to find there all the love, mercy, compassion and peace that our hearts so deeply need. “It is here that we can ask Him to shelter us in His love and mercy. It is here that we can discover the portal to His innermost sanctuary where we can be bathed in His peace, joy, and comfort.” (From our Constitution)
As we spend time before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, we are transformed by His Presence and we become carriers of His love. We pour out our love to and for Him, and are filled with Him. Then we pour out His love on others.
